Overview
Technical expertise and strategic involvement in setting up large-scale production, transferring technology, and building the marketing and sales partnerships that follow.
One of Kyodo's key strengths is technical expertise and strategic involvement in setting up large-scale production units, technology transfer, and the marketing and sales partnerships that follow. We play a central role not only in executing these collaborations, but in forging new strategic alliances and bringing new pharmaceutical technologies to market, identifying complementary strengths between partners and building on them.
Contract research and manufacturing has changed how the Indian pharmaceutical industry operates over the past two decades, with India emerging as one of the leading nations in GMP-compliant manufacturing, particularly from a Japanese regulatory and quality perspective. We offer research, manufacturing, and development services across the full value chain of a new chemical entity, from pre-clinical through commercial stages, supporting both mid- and large-scale production.
We were the first company to bring a Japanese innovator into India, at a time when India's pharmaceutical industry was still young and largely unrecognised in Japan.
What drives the outsourcing model
- 01
Burgeoning R&D costs
Rising research and development costs push innovators toward outsourced models.
- 02
Capacity constraints
Lack of in-house manufacturing capacity and resources at home.
- 03
Productivity pressure
Uncertain development outcomes make flexible external capacity valuable.
01Japan experience
Kyodo was the first company to bring a Japanese innovator company into India in the early 2000s, at a time when India's pharmaceutical industry was still young and largely unrecognised in Japan.
We led the technology transfer of a key intermediate for the innovator's drug molecule, involving technically difficult reaction steps, and went on to serve as the official distributor for that innovator drug and its licensing and distribution to other Asian markets.
